    After Dark

The rooftops, mezcal bars & late-night rooms worth knowing about.

    After dark

San Miguel is not a club town, & that is the point. The good nights here are slower, on rooftops or in candle-lit courtyards, ending with mezcal you would not order at home, or in a small room with a piano & no cover charge. This is the working list, rooftops & mezcal bars first, then the live music rooms. If you are here to meet people rather than just get a drink, the companion guide is Meeting People, which covers the markets, the Biblioteca & the cultural institutions that quietly run the social calendar.
